Basic Rules of Lightning Roulette

Lightning Roulette, like European Roulette, has a ball and a wheel, with 37 positions in which the ball can land. These are numbered 0-36. The zero is green and numbers 1-36 alternate between the colors red and black (there are 18 of each).

At the start of each round, players can place their bets on the mats. There are various different bets you can make and we will cover these in a minute. There is a bar at the top of the mat that will be colored green, orange, or red. If the bar is green, it means that bets are open and you can place your chips on the mat. If the bar is orange it means that bets are closing; you can still place your bets but be quick! If the bar is red it means that the bets have closed and the ball is about to be dropped onto the wheel.

After bets have closed, you won’t be able to place any more chips on the mat. The ball will be dropped onto the spinning wheel and the wheel will take pride of place at the center of your screen! The wheel will begin to slow down until the ball eventually lands on one of the numbered positions. Wagers will be settled and bets will reopen for the next round.

Lightning Roulette Bets

This special, live version of Roulette, from Evolution Gaming, is great for low-rollers, high-rollers, beginners, and experts alike. You can make all the standard Roulette bets using chips to suit your budget. These standard Lightning Roulette bets are:

  • Evens or Odds;
  • Reds or Blacks;
  • Lows (1-18) or Highs (19-36);
  • Dozens (1st 12, 2nd 12 or 3rd 12);
  • Columns (1st column, 2nd column or 3rd column);
  • 6 Line (6 numbers on 2 rows);
  • Square (4 numbers in a square);
  • Street (3 numbers on 1 row);
  • Split (2 adjacent numbers); and
  • Straight (a single number bet).

The easiest bets for beginners to play are the simple ones, like evens/odds, reds/blacks, lows/highs, and single-number bets. Once a beginner gets used to the game, they can start introducing some other of other bets, such as dozens, columns, 6-line, square, street, and split bets. After a few rounds, you’ll start to get the hang of it. More experienced players also have the option to place race track bets (on the other mat), such as series and orphelins.

Lightning Roulette has the handy feature of a ‘repeat’ button which you can use to repeat your bet from the previous round. You’ll love this feature as you’ll soon realise that bets close quickly in this live game from Evolution Gaming! It might take you more than one round to get the chips down on the mat how you want them, so being able to repeat the perfect bet will be priceless!

Lightning Roulette vs Normal Roulette

While Lightning Roulette is similar to normal, European Roulette in so many ways, it also has a large element of uniqueness that sets it apart from the rest. The clue is in the name – it’s the lightning! This electrifying extra feature brings with it multipliers of up to x500, making Lightning Roulette the perfect combination of classic table game ambiance and thrilling slot-style wins!

To signify the closing of the bets in Lightning Roulette, the dazzlingly-dressed host or hostess will lower the lightning lever. This charges up the lightning! Both the background and the mat will light up with the power of the lightning. Where the mat is electrified will signify the areas where lightning is going to strike – for example, ‘odds’, ‘1st 12’, or ‘reds’.

Just before the wheel stops spinning and the ball lands in one of the 37 positions, the lightning will reach full power and release its charge! The lightning can strike up to 5 numbers at a time and part of the fun is that you never know which number(s) are going to become lucky or how many will be struck. The numbers which have been struck by lightning will be revealed first and then their multipliers will soon follow. The multipliers can be: 50x, 100x, 200x, 300x, 400x or 500x!

In order to be in with a chance of winning a multiplier, you’ll have to have placed a straight bet at least on one of the lightning-hot, lucky numbers (for that particular round). Then, you’ll have to wait for the wheel to stop spinning and see which numbered positions the ball lands in! Multipliers will be up for grabs whenever the ball lands on a number which has been struck by lightning. Only straight bets will pay out multipliers – split, street or any other type of bet, even if it covers the winning number, will not pay out the multiplier – only the standard payout.
